I don’t believe in coincidence… But making this tart was coincidence ;)
Of course, the final effect was supposed to be completely different… Luckily, it ended up in a yummy way :) The taste of this tart is really untypical…
Yet, I need to admit I’m posting this recipe mostly because of this delicious tart… The topping is very tasty too, yes, but the bottom… oh my :) I’m not even sure if I should be saying it’s a tart since it’s something in between a tart and puff pastry. And do believe me, I would have never thought I could make puff pastry myself ;P
Next time, I’ll be trying this tart recipe but with a different topping… Well, I think no matter what you use, it can’t be a failure ;)
Oh, and definitely I’ll work on the shape of the tart… as for now it looks… not the way I’d like it to look like ;)
Ingredients (tart form 26cm):
- 175g plain flour
- 130g butter
- 1/2 tsp icing sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 35ml milk
- 1 yolk
Combine flour with icing sugar and salt..
Cut butter into smaller pieces. Add to flour.
Whisk yolk in milk. Add to flour.
Knead the dough fast until incorporated and smooth.
Form a ball, flatten it a bit and cool in the fridge.
Butter the form and sprinkle it gently with flour.
Once the dough is chilled, roll it to get not such a thin cake, several milimetres should do the trick :)
Lay the rolled dough in the form, pressing the dough gently to the bottom.
Make small wholes in the bottom of the tart using a fork :)
Preheat the oven to 220°C.
Once you put the cake in the oven, lower the temperature immediately to 200°C and bake for about 25-30 minutes.
After baking, chill the tart :)
- 1 cup dried dates
- 1/2 cup prunes
- 1 apples
- 2 Tbs lemon juice
- 1/2 cup water
Peel the apple and cut it into smaller pieces.
Boil all the ingredients in the pan.
Boil it over a low-heat for about 5-8 minutes till fruit get soft.
After this time, blend all the ingredients till you get a smooth mass.
Lay the mass on the tart.
You can also glaze it with melted dark chocolate.
