Because there is a nice cake shop in my town.
Because they’ve got really nice cookies.
Because I had a craving.
Finding THIS taste was the main aim. Surprisingly, I managed to do it during the second attempt!
They are crumbly… like shortbread? :) Melting in the mouth, delicate in texture, intensely cocoa, almost lacking sweetness. And yes, what I like a lot, express :) Prepared and baked within half an hour :)
Very possible I’ll be still experimenting with them… If anything, I’ll let you know :)
A SMALL UPDATE :)
I made them once again, this time using brown sugar instead of icing sugar. And in my humble opinion, they’re even better! But you know how it is, different people, different taste :) It may be a good idea to check out both versions. The more cookies, the better :)
Another gut bomb! So so many calories!
It’s possible that I’m chosing this kind of cakes in particular for one good reason – I’m really trying to put on weight a bit… Where are my lost kilograms? Need to find them :) So maybe… it’s about some subconcious choices? No idea ;)
The cake itself is like a big wow! Especially this sunflower cream… Mhmm… Let them say it’s like 8000 calories… The taste makes up for everything! Even these silly calories seem more friendly ;)
To tell you, after making Cuckoo Cake, I was sure it would be double difficult to find a cake that would be equally good… Seems I was lucky :)
Of course, that’s a different category of a yummy but both are highly addictive :)
So so, Sunflower Cake is quite sweet, yet not too sweet. Additionally, I would say you may feel quite full after eating one piece of it… All in all, this cake is a sweet crime :)
Not sure what your way of measuring deliciousness is but for me it was pure pleasure to see my mum having a bite, rolling her eyes and… mhmmmmmm-ing :)
And I almost forgot… To all my teacher friends, do not lose this passion that’s in you. Love your students and you’ll see how much they can offer in return :)
Warm hugs and have a nice celebration :)
It was supposed to be just an element of one of the recipes. Just an element…
It turned out it was so delicious and so addictive that it seriously deserved its own place on Sarenka :)
I’ll be coming back to this recipe every now and then while making other cakes, biscuits or desserts… of course if I manage to refrain myself from eating it straight from the oven! :)
All of the ingredients are my favourite! That is why this granola is mine, mine, mine!!! :)
I decided to make my own version because I noticed that I had a tendency to look through my previous granolas, searching for some bigger pieces of nuts… Then I thought – why would I look for the best ingredients if… all of them can be the best!
In my granola chopping is not welcome. Well, maybe just a bit :) I like when the nuts are big, noticeable and extremely crunchy :) And roasted hazelnuts… oh mummy… it’s like a tiny version of nutella… The best with hot milk :)
You’re all invited… :)
I haven’t made any granola for a very very very long time.
Time to catch up with some :)
This one I found on My Man’s Kitchen. I decided to make if from half of the portion given. Just to try it out :)
By the way, I realised that granola drying is really individual matter – sometimes it can take up to 40 minutes and sometimes, like in this case, only 20! Or to be honest… even shorter :)
Nut Granola is something I’ll be still experimenting with. As for now, that’s the recipe :)
Checking out wholemeal bread recipes in progress :)
To tell you the truth, it’s getting worse and worse to choose the most delicious ones! From the moment I made Graham Rolls, I thought they were simply the best but now… now I’m not that sure :) Flax Seed Rolls are sooo good too!
One thing for sure, both recipes are worth trying out :)
Wholemeal flour, seeds – that’s something I like the most :)
Are you in need of rehab?
Do you tend to snack quite often choosing sweets and chocolates mostly?
These Bars will be a nice solution for you :)
Such a simple substitute they are! No-sweet, crispy and very tasty. And above all, they can help you to get rid of this little hunger :)
At first, I wanted to make them as no-bake bars (like in the original recipe) but it turned out they were not solid at all… So a quick decision to finally bake them and… bingo :)
Still, I think I’ll have another attempt to make a no-bake version of them in the nearest future :)
One of the best bread on Sarenka!
One of the best I’ve ever made!
I mean, one of the best… for me :) If you’re not fond of heavy bread with a lot of seeds inside, then you’ll have to search for something else. I have to admit that though the bread may seem quite heavy, the inside is rather fluffy and far from being solid!
As you may have noticed, I’ve been making yeast-based bread only… but this leaven-based ones… Hmmm… Still on my mind, still on my mind :)
As for now, try this one – especially those who CAN see the difference between the ready-made and home-made breadstuff :)
And one more thing, kind of important – if you’re sitting in your armchairs now, whining over your poor fitness motivation, blaming yourself for lack of consistency in exercising etc etc, go to the kitchen NOW! Make this bread NOW! During kneading I guess I burnt thousands of calories ;D
Where is this recipe from..? Who knows ;D
I got it from Mum. Mum got it most probably from her friend and this friend got it from a friend’s friend ;P And so it goes :) But I hope you’ll agree that this kind of wandering recipes are simply the best! It’s like with Chinese whispers – you start with talking about a sponge cake and end up with triple cream birthday layer cake ;D Well, if everyone adds this and that to their recipes, the results may be surprising :)
To be honest, I’m not really a big fan of poppyseeds used in cakes.
But if I were to make a poppyseed cake, this one would be my choice. Why? It is checked, it is trusted, it is from Mum :)
One of the cakes I decide my mum to make… with no regrets :)
Cranberry – yummy, dates – yummy, honey – yummy and… my beloved pistachios!
That kind of snacks should be recommended worldwide
just because they’re
and they will satisfy your tummy ;P
(Apart from baking attempts, I took up a rhyming course ;P)
The balls are honeyish with a bit of saltiness thanks to pistachios. They’re also sticky-sticky because of dates being used.
As the original recipe gives, they’re called Energy Bites, which is sooo understandable since both nuts and dried fruit are a real dose of energetic kick for you ;D Even though the balls are so tiny :)
I assume my adventure with these has just started and I’ll go on with experimenting with them changing and mixing the ingredients as much as I like :)
Tasty tasty :)
Oh, and I would have forgotten, I dedicate this recipe to my dear blender which decided to pass away ;P
